Not a competition barn. Not somewhere you need fancy gear or a show background. Just a real farm with real horses and people who genuinely love what they do and want to share it with you — whether you've never touched a horse in your life, or horses have been part of your world for as long as you can remember. That's what Sunny Days is. And if that's what you've been looking for, you found it.
Her great-grandfather started the family farm over one hundred years ago. Alana grew up with her grandfather next door, learning what it meant to truly care for animals — and horses in particular. She started riding at a young age, got into barrel racing and game showing at twelve, competed in 4-H in Western Pleasure, English, Barrels, and Versatility, and eventually represented New Jersey at the National 4-H Conference in Atlanta, Georgia and the Congressional Youth Forum (CWF) in Washington, D.C.
When COVID shut down her day job, a family friend called about a horse named Sunny, a severely neglected animal from a local cruelty case who was terrified of people. Alana took him on. Slowly, patiently, she helped him learn to trust again. That experience, watching a broken horse come back to life is what convinced her this could be more than a hobby. Sunny's transformation became the heart and name of the business. Today, Alana runs Sunny Days alongside instructors Alison Hey and Rachael Day, serving students, boarders, and the wider South Jersey community.
It's the fact that this is the same land the family has worked for four generations. It's the meet-and-greet before every new student ever gets on a horse. It's the way the boarders all know each other, and know Alana knows their horse. It's the trail rides through Wharton State Forest two blocks away. It's the petting zoo goats and the summer camp kids and the farm tours on Sunday mornings. It's the warm, faith-filled community that has formed here organically over the years where beginners feel welcome and experienced riders feel at home and everyone, eventually, feels like family.
This is not a show barn. It is not a corporate facility. It is a real working farm that happens to be one of the best places in South Jersey to fall in love with horses.
